About

Many men go fishing all of their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after.

– Henry David Thoreau

After 10 long years of work (2013-2023), including driving over nearly 48,000 miles to investigate natural resource areas and taking over 40,000 photographs to document the work, our new website, Explore Wild New York!, is nearly ready to launch! Go to our login page at www.explorewildnewyork.com and add your email address to our waiting list. We will contact you when the site goes live. To preview the website, click on the link next to Preview.

Initially, the site will include only inland trout streams, but these will quickly be followed by warm-water streams, inland lakes, and Great Lakes tributaries, followed by Lake Erie, Lake Ontario, and the upper and lower Niagara River. While most of the information on the website currently involves fishable waters in western New York, I’ve also included a LOT of information on paddling, birding, and hiking.

In addition to the contents of the website, I will post at least one blog article per week. The articles will include discussions of nature-related topics, book reviews, and reports on the many reconnaissance road trips I take to gather information and photos for the website. In the future, I will add vblogs, a YouTube channel, and zoom meetings.
